Why doesn't TPX do preseason rankings?

Preseason rankings are guesses. Without game results, there's no objective data to measure. Teams change rosters, develop players, and surprise you. TPX ranks teams after they've played verified games, so rankings reflect actual competitive strength, not coach opinions.

What age groups are included?

Currently, TPX covers 8U through 14U age divisions. Rankings are organized by age group and state, so you can find your division's rankings easily. More age groups will be added as we expand.

What is the TPX ranking season?

The TPX ranking season runs from April through July—when competitive travel baseball is in full swing. This focused window captures peak performance while giving families and players the fall and winter to play other sports, train, and build their teams for the spring. Rankings reset at the start of each season so every team earns their spot fresh.

Why is my team not listed?

Accepted Answer

Teams appear in rankings after playing verified games in recognized tournaments or competitions. If your team has played but isn't listed, your results may not have been captured yet. You can submit missing results directly, or contact us with your tournament name and team details.

How do I correct a team name or record?

Accepted Answer

If your team name is misspelled or record is wrong, you can report it through our platform. Provide the team name, correct spelling, and any wrong results. Our team reviews and corrects data within 48 hours. Corrections retroactively update rankings.

How do I request to be an admin of my team?

Accepted Answer

Visit the Rankings page, search for your team, and select 'Request Admin Access.' You'll be asked to verify you're a coach or team admin. Once approved, you'll have access to manage your team's profile, submit results, and keep your information current.

How do we submit missing game results?

Send your game results to admin@tpxrankings.com. Include opponent name, date, final score, and tournament (if applicable). Results are validated and added to the ranking calculation.

Why did our team move up?

Accepted Answer

Teams move up by winning, especially against ranked opponents. Recent wins (last 2 weeks) have the strongest impact. Beating a top-ranked team in an elite tournament moves you faster than beating an unranked team at a small event. Strength of schedule and recency matter most.

Why did our team drop after winning?

Unlikely—a win shouldn't drop you. However, if your ranking percentage dropped slightly, it may mean: other teams around you had stronger wins, your win was recent but lower-tier (weak opponent, small tournament), or older games decayed in weight. Overall, winning moves you forward or keeps you steady.

Do close losses help?

Close losses hurt less than blowouts. A 3-2 loss to the #1 team shows competitive strength and damages your PR less than a 15-1 loss to an unranked team. Your ranking accounts for opponent quality, so strong losses protect your position better than weak wins.

Yes, but it's capped at +15 per game. A 3-run win counts differently than a 12-run win—close games show competitive balance. The cap prevents blowout tournaments from inflating ratings unfairly. It rewards dominant wins without penalizing opponents excessively.

Head-to-head results come into play when two teams are very close in Power Rating. Just because you beat a team once in pool play doesn't automatically make you ranked higher—the full body of work determines ranking. But when teams are extremely close, head-to-head can be the deciding factor.

NEW = team just entered rankings (first published ranking). ↑ = moved up last week. ↓ = moved down last week. → = held same rank or within 1-2 spots. Arrows help you track momentum at a glance.

This shows when your team's ranking was last calculated based on new game data. It's updated weekly when rankings refresh. If you played a recent game, last updated may show the previous week until rankings process your new result.
